
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, is in Ankara today, 7 July, and tomorrow, 8 July, to participate in the 2026 NATO Summit hosted by Türkiye.
Earlier this afternoon, President von der Leyen participated in a panel, ‘The Capability Challenge: a NATO-EU Conversation,’ with NATO Secretary-General, Mark Rutte, at the NATO Summit Defence Industry Forum. You can watch the replay on EBS.
She then had a bilateral meeting with the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb. Later tonight, she will participate in a dinner with NATO Heads of State and Government, hosted by the President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoǧan, and the First Lady of Türkiye, Emine Erdoǧan.
Tomorrow, President von der Leyen will participate in a trilateral working dinner with the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, and President Erdoǧan.
