Description
This event marks the official launch of the Advocacy Coalition – Defending Our Future Now, a year-long initiative uniting ten embassies, communities and civil society partners in Luxembourg. The Coalition aims to strengthen European solidarity with Ukraine by addressing key challenges such as human rights violations, disinformation, security threats, and the protection of international law. The deportation of Ukrainian children is not only a tragedy of war, but a documented war crime and a profound moral test for Europe. This opening event sets the tone for an intensive year of advocacy focused on justice, accountability, and the defense of European values.
Confirmed speakers and guests include:
• Claude Wiseler – President of Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies
• Marc Angel – Member of the European Parliament
• Yuriko Backes – Minister of Defence of Luxembourg
• Anne Calteux – Head of the European Commission in Luxembourg
• Olexandra Matviichuk – Peace Nobel Prize Laureate 2022, Human rights activist, Center for Civil Liberties
• Dmytro Lubinets – Ombudsman of Ukraine (online)
This event is organized by LUkraine ASBL and Advocacy Coalition in partnership with the European Commission Representation in Luxembourg, the European Parliament Liaison Office, and the Office of the Ombudsman of Ukraine.
