Description
Europe facing the age of carbon neutrality: how to ensure the decarbonisation and competitiveness of European industry?
“We have a once in a generation opportunity to show the way with speed, ambition and a sense of purpose to secure the EU's industrial lead in the fast-growing net-zero technology sector. Europe is determined to lead the clean tech revolution. For our companies and people, it means turning skills into quality jobs and innovation into mass production, thanks to a simpler and faster framework. Better access to finance will allow our key clean tech industries to scale up quickly.”
It was with these words that the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the Net Zero Industrial Act (NZIA), a new piece of legislation, presented on 16 March 2023, which lays down the conditions for establishing Europe as a world leader in industrial innovation and clean technologies.
To help the European industry remain competitive in these disruptive times, while staying on course for climate neutrality by 2050, the European Union has chosen the path of accelerating the green transition and pursuing greater autonomy and resilience.
The proposed regulation on Net Zero Industry (NZIA) aims to establish a specific framework to strengthen the clean technology ecosystem in the EU, facilitate access to finance and permits and thus contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the net zero technology industry in Europe.
But what are the practical instruments proposed by the NZIA? Which net zero technologies are covered by the Commission's new proposal? Which projects are likely to benefit from European support? What are the needs of the Luxemburgish industry?
We invite you to learn more about NZIA and discuss the challenges and opportunities for national industry stakeholders, in the presence of
Claude TURMES, Minister for Energy,
Franz FAYOT, Minister of the Economy,
Merete CLAUSEN, Director of the Directorate General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs at the European Commission, and
