Bring Europe closer to citizens and become a Europe Direct Information Centre

The European Commission has launched a new call for proposals for organisations wishing to become one of three Europe Direct Information Centres in Luxembourg.

The Europe Direct Information Centres, which aim to explain the European Union (EU), its projects and achievements to citizens and to organise related activities, will be eligible for annual funding of up to EUR 50 000 for a Standard Europe Direct and EUR 25 000 for a Mobile Europe Direct for the period from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2030. 

Interested organisations will be able to respond to the call for proposals, which will include a list of concrete actions sought, from 6 May to 17 June 2025. The European Commission stresses in particular the importance of local media and social media in communicating about the EU. It also calls on the future Europe Direct Centres to actively contribute to the priorities of the European Commission’s new strategy and to help tackle disinformation. 

Interested organisations must submit their applications online. Their proposals must include specific networking and communication activities for 2026 and respond to the major challenges facing the EU in their respective regions. Managers of Europe Direct Centres must have a good knowledge of the European Union and its activities, experience in event management and communication, and proficiency in the language(s) required for each category of Europe Direct Centre.

If an applicant organisation does not have its own technical and/or financial resources but is part of an existing structure, the structure wishing to host Europe Direct must contribute to its operation and visibility.
