This week, Commissioner Serafin continues his ‘Tour d’Europe’, consulting on the next EU long-term budget. Over three days, he will visit Luxembourg, Germany, and the Netherlands, focusing on the added value of actions and projects funded at the EU level. During these visits, he will meet government officials, regional representatives, and people who benefit from EU funds. He will also see first-hand how EU-funded projects are improving lives and helping regional growth.
The first stop is Luxembourg, where he will meet members of the Chamber of Deputies and the Vice-Prime Minister, Xavier Bettel. He will also meet with the President of the European Investment Bank, Nadia Calviño, to discuss the need for more European defence spending and visit a local project related to the CBRN action plan.
On Thursday, in Germany, Commissioner Serafin will meet the Budget and Finance Committee of North Rhine-Westphalia’s Parliament, in Düsseldorf. He will also hold discussions with the Minister of Justice, Benjamin Limbach, and with the Finance Minister, Marcus Optendrenk. His visit will end with a trip to a cloud infrastructure project – Ericsson’s KeeCEK project, which has received €12 million in EU funding to develop smaller, energy-efficient cloud-edge nodes.
On Friday, in the Netherlands, he will meet members of the House of Representatives in The Hague before visiting the Porthos Project. His trip will end in Rotterdam, where he will meet its Mayor, Carola Schouten, and visit the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences to see and exchange on EU-funded projects there.
