The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of joint control of Zooplus AG of Germany by EQT Fund Management S.à.r.l (‘EQT’) of Luxembourg and Hellman & Friedman LLC (‘H&F’) of the US.

Zooplus is active in the online retail of pet supplies for dogs, cats and other animals. EQT and H&F are investment management firms with investments in a variety of industries and sectors such as healthcare, services and consumer goods. The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, given the limited overlaps between the activities of the companies within the European Economic Area. The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.

More information is available on the Commission's competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.10504.
