Today, Mairead McGuinness, Commissioner for financial services, financial stability and capital markets Union, is in Luxembourg on an official visit. Commissioner McGuinness meets with His Royal Highness the Grand Duke of Luxembourg. Following their meeting in the morning, the Commissioner will hold a joint press conference with Pierre Gramegna, Minister of Finance.
Commissioner McGuinness meets with Fernand Etgen, President of the Chamber of Deputies, André Bauler, Chair of the Committee for Finance and Budget, as well as Members of the Parliament for an exchange of views on sustainable finance, anti-money laundering, and recent Commission proposals on Solvency II, Basel III and capital markets union.
Later in the day, Commissioner McGuinness meets with Claude Turmes, Minister for Energy and Spatial Planning to discuss sustainable finance, and with Werner Hoyer, President of the European Investment Bank to discuss the role of the EIB as the EU's climate bank. She will visit the Luxembourg House of Financial Technology and the Luxembourg Stock Exchange, to discuss current priorities in the financial services.
Commissioner McGuinness will also meet with the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier to discuss the recent Commission proposals on Basel III and capital markets union.
